What a way to kick off the year where the Outdoor Kakeez went for a 2D1N cycling trip over the weekend of 22nd to 23rd Jan 2011 to Pengerang, Johor Bahru, Malaysia. It was pure fun, exciting, full with joy and laughter, making it a perfect and wonderful way to start the year. The happy and beautiful pictures taken throughout this trip proves it all and it is to our own benefits that we share the memories with our loved ones, families & friends. For now, I have requests pouring in for me to do it again, with more friends wanting to join, while the others just can’t get enough of it.
It is our pleasure to share the Outdoor Kakeez experiences. A picture tells a thousand words….. Enjoy!
Our meeting place: Changi Village Hawker Centre |
Some of us brought our own bicycle from home, while the rest have to rent at one of the cycling shop over at Changi Village. The shop even loan us 2 sets of bicycle tubes and a hand pump, in case any of us has a puncture tyre during the cycling trip. A good and kind gesture indeed from the shop owner.
A happy picture of us, all eager and getting ready for the trip. |
This is the Changi Point Jetty terminal. We need to make our group registration at the counter and wait for our boatman to pick us up. We chartered the whole Bumboat for our return trip (Changi - Pengerang - Changi)
Important signage found at the ferry terminal. Bumboat details and Map.

The road trail at Kampung Pengerang. A quiet and peaceful village life. It is not a busy road and not many vehicles are seen using this stretch of road. However, we shall not take that for granted. Road safety is the utmost important aspect in this trip.
The journey was indeed a breezy one. We are lucky enough that the weather was sunny and fine. The beautiful sights along the road trail make the cycling trip an even a memorable one.
We stopped at certain points during the trip to capture some interesting sights. The cameras at our hands are fully utilized to capture these moments.
In one of our picture capturing stopovers, we spotted this beautiful house at the hilltop. I wonder whose house is this? Its definitely a dream house to live in.

Our main road destination |
Our place of stay. A typical kampung house which belongs to one of our Outdoor Kakeez in-laws. Thank you Bro. Its a wonderful place for us to stay in for the night.
As a token of our appreciations in allowing the Outdoor Kakeez to stay in, we all do our part in cleaning up the house. We sweep, wash and mop clean the house internally, we clear the dried leaves and rubbish externally, we did all we could to make the place cleaner and a better place to stay in. Its the most honest and sincere work that we do during the visit.
Pictures of sunset that we managed to capture.
After the long cycling ride and the good work we all did together, a sumptous dinner at a nearby 'warongs' is the treat we all deserved.
The foods on offer were indeed appetizing. And the taste of it, marvellous! |
Dinner was our last program for the day. After the meals, we had a few rounds of 'Teh Tarik' sessions before we call it a day.
Pictures of sunrise I managed to take. It's so beautiful...
If you look closely at the two pictures above, you can still see the moon. What a sight!
Top & Bottom: Some of the beautiful pictures taken during sunrise around the vicinity of the kampung house we stayed in. Spectacular!

We took a slightly different route back with more spectacular views.

The long, slow and leisure cycle we had on the last day makes it even harder as it is an end to our weekend of joy and fun. I know that some of us just can't get enough of it. For me personally, yes, I can't get enough of it too. When comes to having fun and enjoy, especially with good company around you, its always hard to say goodbye.
The boat ride home.
Its time for us to moved on, back home to our beloved families. Will Outdoor Kakeez be coming back to Pengerang? The answer is a big YES, with a BIGger crowd and with more activities. Most importantly, our main objective is for the Outdoor Kakeez to be happy, refreshed and have fun.
The peace and tranquility life of Kampung Pengerang will awaits us.
The End
